About Me

My name is Jim Kay, and I am an Illustrator.

I used to work in museums and galleries, but now I scribble instead. I draw every day, and every night.

I   L I K E

Pylons, books, insects, writing, museums (especially the V&A), scientists, libraries, trees, mistakes, architecture, Italy, greyhounds, Brewster’s Millions, Kenneth Clark’s Civilisation, diagrams, carpentry, music, David Attenborough, putting new socks on after going for a swim, old photo albums, and most of all, chocolate.

I   D O N ’ T  L I K E

Batik, whaling, stone cladding, drying my hands on an old towel when one hand is already dry, being hungry, Ugg boots, people who eat shark fin soup, people who pave over their gardens, dream catchers, snooty galleries, people who kill protected species for ‘medicine’.

I think that covers everything.
