Well, firstly congratulations to Patrick Ness who won the Galaxy National Book Award for A Monster Calls! He beat off some pretty stiff competition too. Secondly, I’m uber chuffed that not only A Monster Calls, but also Dragonborn, by Toby Forward have both been long listed for the Carnegie Medal. And thirdly....A Monster Calls has also been long listed in this years CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal!!

‘How about them biscuits’...as people up north have been known to say. I must say the Greenaway nomination is a bit of a shock, I can’t believe I’m on the same list as people like Michael Foreman.

So, while we are all showing off our shiny pants and feeling pretty good about ourselves, why not vote A Monster Calls for Galaxy Book of the Year?
